My Mason Jar Story

Mason JarsI decided to make this site to share with others my love of mason jars after a heartbreaking event in my family.  My grandmother passed away not long ago leaving us all heartbroken. We would miss her, her smile and laugh, her home, and the greens from her wonderful garden.

As we rummaged through her belongings to savor a memory of her, I spotted a box of those famous blue Bell Mason Jars she packed them collards into!

My heart leapt! My grandmother was an avid canner, and I spent many summers breaking beans and canning them in mason jars to last us the year.  I am so fond of those memories, and I knew I just had to have that box of mason jars!  Just seeing them made my mouth water in rememberance of the buttery goodness of lima beans and collard greens, and some good ole cornbread.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t blessed with the green thumb that my grandmother was, so canning in a mason jar is not really an option for me.  Instead, I turned my thoughts to other things that I could do with these versatile jars.

Where was I to look? An internet search for “mason jars” turned up an unbelievable amount of results, far too many for me to search through, so I decided to compile a site on my own so I didn’t have to keep sifting through the millions of sites already out there.  And this is where you save time, by enjoying Mason Jars Dot Org, dedicated to my grandmother.

The Many Uses of Mason Jars

I found so many interesting ways to use mason jars: fairies in a jar, snow globes, canning, soup storage, holiday gifts, and even gift card holders! I’ll be honest, I was a little surprised at just how much was out there!

This site has what I consider to be the best of all things mason jars: crafts, recipes, kids’ toys, and more! It even has information on antique mason jars and those famous blue glass mason jars (my personal favorite!). I’ll tell you where you can buy mason jars in bulk and where you can find Ball mason jars. I’ve even got information on nontraditional plastic mason jars. These jars are perfect for modern day gals who love a little country twist in their kitchens!

I hope that you find everything you’d like to know about mason jars here, but if you don’t then please feel free to send me an email through the contact page and let me know what is missing! If you have any ideas for mason jars crafts or different techniques for canning or maybe even a good deal on bulk mason jars, I would absolutely love to hear from you! So take your shoes off and stay awhile, explore my site and please let me know what you think!
